Acmetil Vet
Introduction:
Acmetil Vet is an oral solution
specifically formulated to treat respiratory tract infections in poultry and
livestock. With its key ingredient Tilmicosin, a broad-spectrum bactericidal
macrolide antibiotic, this medication effectively targets and eliminates
various bacterial infections. In this blog post, we will explore the

Composition:
Each milliliter of Acmetil Vet
contains 250 mg of Tilmicosin (as Tilmicosin Phosphate INN).
Pharmacology:
Tilmicosin, a semisynthetic
macrolide antibiotic, exhibits a broad spectrum of action against bacteria. It
works by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis, specifically by binding
with the 50S ribosomal subunits.
Indication:
Acmetil Vet is indicated for the
treatment of respiratory tract infections in poultry, such as Mycoplasmosis,
Fowl Cholera, and Infectious Coryza. In livestock, it is effective against
respiratory tract infections caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae,
Actinomyces pyogenes, and Mannheimia haemolytica.
Dosage and Administration:
Acmetil Vet is administered
orally.
For Poultry: Dilute 1 ml of
Acmetil Vet in 3 liters of drinking water and administer daily for 3 days.
For Calves: Administer 1 ml per
20 kg of body weight daily for 3-5 days.
Always follow the dosage
instructions provided by a registered veterinarian.
Contraindication:
Acmetil Vet is contraindicated in
poultry and livestock that are hypersensitive to Tilmicosin.
Warning and Precaution:
Ensure that horses and other
equines do not have access to drinking water containing Tilmicosin.
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include a
temporary reduction in water intake. However, rare side effects are not known.
Use in Pregnancy, Lactation, and Lay:
When administering this medicine
to pregnant or lactating animals, the risk and necessity should be carefully
considered.
Drug Interaction:
Concurrent use of other
macrolides and lincosamides is contraindicated.
Overdose:
No symptoms of overdose have been
observed in poultry even when given a dose five times higher than the
recommended amount. In calves, a slight decrease in milk consumption was
observed with a dose five times higher than the recommended amount.
Withdrawal Time:
For poultry, meat must not be
consumed for up to 12 days after administration of Acmetil Vet. For calves,
meat must not be consumed for up to 42 days after administration.
Storage:
Store Acmetil Vet below 30°C in a
dry place, protected from light. Ensure that all medicines are kept out of
reach of children.
