Injection & Bolus Solution for Animals

Product Description:

Steron Vet offers an effective solution, harnessing the power of Dexamethasone for animal health. Available in both injection and bolus forms, it caters to various needs, providing anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties to support your animals' well-being.

Composition:

- Injection: Each milliliter contains 2 mg of Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate BP.

- Bolus: Each bolus contains 10 mg of Dexamethasone BP.

Pharmacological Action:

Dexamethasone, a steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (SAID), exerts analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by selectively blocking COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. This reversible inhibition curtails the production of proinflammatory prostaglandin precursors.

Indications:

Steron Vet is indicated for a range of conditions, including mastitis, endometritis, arthritis, laminitis, dermatitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, allergy, ketosis, shock (from accidents or surgery), supportive therapy for insect and snake bites, induction of parturition, immune modulation, nervous system disorders, blood calcium reduction, and cancer therapy.

Dosage and Administration:

- Bolus: Designed for oral administration.

  - Cattle: ½ - 2 boluses (5-20 mg) daily.

  - Horse: ½ - 1 bolus (5-10 mg) daily.

  - Dog/Cat: 0.125-1 mg daily.

- Injection: For intramuscular or intravenous use.

  - Cattle: 2.5-10 ml (5-20 mg), repeat as needed.

  - Horse: 1.25-2.5 ml (2.5-5 mg), repeat as needed.

  - Dog/Cat: 0.50 ml (1 mg) daily for 3-5 days.

  - Shock dose: 5 mg/kg IV, in case of shock.

Contraindications:

Avoid use in animals hypersensitive to dexamethasone.

Side Effects:

Common side effects include potential immune suppression and muscular weakness. Rare effects, seen with prolonged use, may resemble "Cushingoid" symptoms. Acute effects, primarily gastrointestinal, may occur at high doses.

Warning and Precaution:

Administer Dexamethasone cautiously in late pregnancy, as it could induce early parturition, possibly leading to dystocia, retained placenta, and metritis.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

Dexamethasone usage may lead to abortion in pregnant animals.

Drug Interaction:

Avoid concurrent use with NSAIDs.

Overdose:

Excessive use may lead to sodium and fluid retention, potassium loss, and weight gain.
